It was hands-down the best Pokémon in the tier, and Seed Flare exponentially reduced the reliable counterplay towards it by letting Shaymin sometimes defeat would-be checks with luck.Īs luck is inherently uncompetitive, this was the main basis in arguing against Shaymin being allowed in the tier. There, heated debate constantly took place regarding whether or not Shaymin was balanced enough to remain in RU. However, due to the strong competition it received along with the state of the meta, Shaymin did not receive enough usage to be natively UU, so it dropped to RarelyUsed. Shaymin was once again a very solid pick for UU at the generation's beginning. This was unfortunate, as Shaymin otherwise had the tools to be a no doubt top tier threat in fifth generation UnderUsed. Thus, the existence of Roserade made using Shaymin somewhat questionable most of the time. This meant that Shaymin's ability to wallbreak with Seed Flare was less consistent and generally less effective overall than Roserade, making it generally superior on offense and support as well.

Roserade also possessed the Technician ability, amplifying its coverage moves and making it difficult to wall. Roserade's significantly higher Special Attack and secondary Poison typing also meant it was mostly more threatening offensively than Shaymin was. Roserade's support movepool was far superior, mainly due to its access to Spikes and Sleep Powder, which made it a better pick for most balanced and some stall teams than Shaymin. However, Roserade was very slightly superior in most ways to Shaymin. Roserade and Shaymin had so much in common, that it should be clear to see how and why they competed with one another. However, depending on its chosen moveset, Shaymin would need team support for whatever counters it did find itself being plagued by. Given that none of these threats can counter Shaymin unless it has a certain moveset, it does not have any counters in the strictest sense. Unfortunately, Dragonite, Zapdos and the majority of Flying types would now counter Shaymin once it revealed its hand with HP Fire. To rectify that problem, HP Fire could let Shaymin take them out if they tried haphazardly switching in. However, HP Ice left Shaymin wide open to Jirachi, Scizor and to a lesser extent Forretress, who could now switch into it effortlessly and win. Selecting HP Ice meant Shaymin could stop Dragonite, Zapdos and Flying types in general from easily dealing with it. The decision between the two was critical, because it was essentially choosing what could and what could not counter Shaymin. Finally, Shaymin's third moveslot would be dedicated to the user's choice of Hidden Power Ice or Hidden Power Fire. Earth Power kept Heatran at bay, which was rather unique since Heatran is known for countering a host of prominent Grass types within the tier. Seed Flare deterred any and all walling threats, preventing them from reliably countering Shaymin. All properties of Delta Pokémon that are not mentioned in this section are the same as that of their non-Delta counterparts. There were a whole swath of Pokémon who could achieve this, but not reliably. With the exception of the Delta Bulbasaur and Delta Combee evolutionary lines, Delta Pokémon have the same gender ratio as their non-Delta counterparts. The weight of a Delta Pokémon is either equal to the base form's weight or equal to 0.5×, 1.5×, or 2× the base form's weight. Additionally, Delta Pokémon whose non-Delta counterparts are in the Undiscovered Egg Group (Delta Pokémon whose base forms are baby, legendary, or mythical Pokémon) are unable to breed. Additionally, evolution methods and wild held items may differ.ĭelta Pokémon can only breed with Delta Ditto, with the exception of Delta Ditto itself, which can breed with any Pokémon that is not in the Undiscovered Egg Group, or Ditto Egg Group. Experiments done by Perfection scientists are responsible for the creation of some of the Delta Pokémon that can be found in the Torren region.ĭelta Pokémon are rare, typically only being found in in-game events.ĭelta Pokémon have the same base stats as their non-Delta counterparts, but have different types, abilities, and learnsets. The Perfection cult studies Delta Pokémon as a part of their goal to obtain the perfect Pokémon, since the group believes Delta Pokémon to be stronger than their regular counterparts. Delta Pokémon are a special kind of Pokémon whose type and appearance differs from their normal counterpart.Īccording to Professor Pine, Delta Pokémon are believed to originate from the Holon region, though the reason for their existence is unknown.
